a favorite poem from mr. feathers:

lespriĀt-du-temps

walking in zeds like a wounded duck
& stomping on acorns, october is an
academic month: crunch crunch crunch
mantra mantra mantra mantra mantra
money money money money money
and berthold brecht in the pocket of
my corduroy jacket, reaching for the
cigarette behind my smiling ears; its
great to be a blond in fall, its great to
pay the bills & wear v-neck sweaters;
its great to meet a girl and have kids
& play with them in parks on sunday
mornings, finishing your mocha coffee
with her thumb hooked in your jeans
from college with the paint and safety
pins; how long would i have to date a
girl again to have a little british kid in
jellies that i can carry on my shoulders
& wonder with? andrei wakes up in
cemetaries with his cafe du monde &
don redmondes orchestra shakes the
afrikaan (1931); i find continuity like
a lucky penny, greening & heads up.
is my face getting rounder? do i care?
will my sentences ever end in interro-
explosions? will i find the confidence
to consummate myself in iconocosmic
fingerbangs? do i want to live to 30?
walking in zeds like a wounded duck,
crunching acorns; nothings too good
for us, & nothinges ever good enough.

i’m wishing my copy of mr. feather’s was pocket sized now…how else am i to get it into the bars without mangling the exterior when cramming it into my broken jeans and failed corduroys?

to be expected: [milk] & automaton reissue as a pocketsized selected works. title to be found at some future date. will keep you posted with post-its.
