In Memoriam (Kevin DuBrow)

“How I Got Into Quiet Riot”
from bats before bombs
feat: smith corona ‘76
October 3rd, 2006

Two years ago I was at the Punk Rock Flea Market in Boston when I met one of my college idols, the drummer from Karate. We were both checking out Metal Health, the seminal Quiet Riot LP, shrieking after-birth of hair metal. It was a small thing, but our shared ridiculousness really pumped me up at the time. Just now I found out that Kevin DuBrow, the lead singer of Quiet Riot, died this week. I never really got into metal like some people did, but i always appreciated the bravado and flaming fucking riffs (not to mention the VH1 specials). If there was ever a right time to post this song, it’s now.
