skeleton (process)
the latest in my series of rockabilly monsters (+ WB Yeats, who I painted in the same style). these all take about 3 hours actual painting time over two or so weeks. one more to go, i think.

I can’t tell if he’s wearing the MET pin ironically or not. The Skeleton is all about understated hyperbole, not sure if i get him yet.

love the upside down hearts above the eyelids. world-weary, love-weary.

fun fact: the text is from nick drake liner notes, with “Skeleton” replacing “nick drake”. it really is uncanny how well it works.
i’m trying to remember what the other monsters have as text – i think Frankenstein has a WS Merwin poem that I thought was weirdly relevant. WB Yeats doesn’t have anything because he already has all the words he needs. I’ll have to check Dracula tonight.

framed the picture badly – it actually goes another two inches on the left side. IMAGINE IT!
